Disk of Gateway

The party teleported back to Lan Tan. Walking across the water form the Tower's island, they travelled overland to a nearby village. A place called Ancharil. Hitching a ride on the local mail boat. They travelled to Samarr. This proved very slow, and having arrived on the northern island, they bought some horses and rode over to the main port: Sundrah. Here they travelled by boat to the  Nelanther Islands  and then onto Velen. The first time all but one of them had arrived on the Forgotten Realms mainland.

In the village of Velen, Chao Lin set about converting the foolish locals to her more enlightened way of thinking. This proved to be wildly successful, and she converted the whole village, including the local priest. Everyone was very impressed. (1,000 bonus exp for the Ascetic. )After this small diversion, the party proceeded to travel around the coast. After walking for about half an hour, they grew bored of travelling by land. So Cho Lin, now an acetic of some renown, cast a water walking spell and they walked off the coast around to the city of Murann. The trip was uneventful and the weather friendly.

In Murann, all did not seem well. Slok determined that the thieves guild were running the show and that there were Ogres wandering the streets in position of authority.Chan Su Wan challenged one of the Ogres to a test of wills. The ogre failed and attacked. Chan, acting far more quickly killed the ogre before he was able to do more than attempt to charge forward.

This caused some commotion, and the party notices some people sneak away in great haste. Soon an Ogre Magi with two ogre policemen came to arrest Chan. Chan protested his innocence adding the fact that he had only been acting in self defence. The Ogre Magi was not impressed and ordered his police arrest the impudent law breaker. In the ensuring combat the Ogre Magi and his Ogres were again destroyed. Quite a crowed of locals had gathered and were watching from a safe distance with great interest.

The party now marched on Town Hall. Slok went ahead to discover that there were hasty defences being built in the town square. The party approached. They walked up to the barricade and a leader amongst the defenders demanded their surrender. Instead, Slok used his necklace of fireballs, and Cho Lin pitched in with a flame strike. In the first round the defender's leaders had all been killed and the local militia fled. The two remaining town guard threw down their arms and surrendered.

A troop of the local army, numbering about 100 in number came towards the town square. Half of them dies in the first fire ball and they beat a hasty retreat.

At this point, an Elf approached them, impressed with their efficiency and wished to join the group.

2 April 2002

After a little more haggling with the military of the local church, the party departed the town. Travelling first to the east toward Brost, and then tuning at the crossroads to the north, they came to the foothills of The Small Teeth on sunset. Here they discovered the very recent signs of a battle. A quick search discovered some bodies of school girls and an 11 year old school girl. Not being ones to take risks they covered the girl with a net and set watch.

The Girl almost got away. They saw her just as she was leaving the camp. Slok followed at a distance. He followed the girl along the road. At a small stream she turned off and headed upstream. Keeping well clear of a small lake, she continued up the mountain to an old, apparently abandoned house. At thins point Slok grabbed her and took her back down the mountain.

On his way back, Slok discovered another camp. He could just make out some large creatures lying on the ground. He skirted around this camp.

Back at the camp, they determined that the girl was definitely under some type influence. But the nature of it they could not determined. After some questioning it was determined that she was looking for her squeegee in her fathers house. As they began to case spells, she disappeared. Chao Lin, having cast a true seeing spell, watched her run, invisible, away from the group and back up the Mountain. They let her go this time.

Chao Lin followed her this time. at the old house she went into a small opening. Small enough for someone as small as the child, or for that matter Chao Lin But not small enough for the other party members.

Wandering and searching the local area, Slok lead them back to the camp. Cautiously approaching, they discovered that the occupants were dead Ogres. One had been flung into the trees like a rag doll.

Searching the area more thoroughly, they were attacked at the lake by two water elementals. Chan mostly killed these on his own.

Back at the old house, they discovered that the house and the tunnel were not connected. The house was half buried and there was no easy entrance.

Digging out the tunnel entrance they were all able to enter. Chao Lin did a know history and learned the some adventurers had died in this area. On entering the first chamber, they discovered the bones of some long dead adventurers and a small terrified school girl.

Down the corridor, on the right they came to a wall constructed of small stones. From the other side came muffled cries. As if there were people in distress. Digging a hole through the wall, they came to a room. In the room, at the far end was a woman the girl immediately identified as her mother. Some of the party were able to see through the illusion. Before they were able to act, they were attacked by 9 Ghouls. These were dispatched in a few rounds.

Chan Su Wan approached and threw a small stone at the illusion. This caused it to implode, much to the dismay of the small child. This in turn triggered a small cave in at the entrance to the room. Again the party was forced to dig their way out.

The only other item of interest in the cavern turned out to be a wooden barricade. This barricade was in exceptionally good condition and covered in ancient writing and the picture of a dragon. A read magic, and detect magic spell were used in addition to a know history. The object was determined to be a magical barrier with a magical trap spell. It had been placed there by none other than an Elminster.

Deciding that some research was in order the party left and explored the house. This turned out to be uninteresting.

Back at the site of the fight, and now in the daylight, they discovered the bodies of the teacher and guards. They took the dead back to Murann. Here they researched the complex, but were unable to learn anything.

We leave the party having returned to the local area of the old house and tunnel. Uncertain as to what action to take. Do they disturb the age old seal and enter the area behind, or do they leave it well alone and continue with their own quest.

After much hesitation, they entered the temple again. Dimension Dooring past the barrier the they explored the contents of the tomb. Determining that the whole complex was too tough they retreated and determined to advise Elminster of the situation.

Travelling on they crossed over the Small Teeth heading north. Camped in the cloud peaks they were attacked by two fire giants. One was disabled using a mind blast, the other managed to kill Chan Su Wan before it too killed. Aramil Nioloi cast an friendship spell on the remaining giant and they released their new found friend who returned to his home to bury his fallen comrade.

Unable to cope with the sudden bout of friendliness, Slok trailed the giant and while the remaining g giant was asleep, plundered his treasure chest.

A change of plans was required and they now made for Baldur's Gate.

The temple of Tymora stands at the prominent five gates in the city of Baldur's Gate. City guards in their distinctive black helms complete with red stripes, stand in clear view on the main corners. Others, not so obvious mingle with the crowd.

Our group of adventures approach the temple. One of their comrades slung over his house. The most impressive horse in the group. Reaching the temple, Aramil dismounts and enters. He greets a lower priest and advises the priest of their situation. The priest nods and leaves. The rest of his companions now enter the temple.

A higher level priest approaches and asks Aramil to describe why he is travelling the world. Pleased with Aramil's response, he advises them of the fee for such a service. The party pay the fee and are admitted into the main temple. The priest leads them to a side chamber, complete with it's own alter.

The chamber is octagonal in construction. On each wall, a pillar, built into the corner, rises from the floor  and then arches overhead where all eight pillars meet in the centre of the ceiling. The pillars are made from a white stone, the walls are guided with gold. In the centre is a rectangular alter.

The priest has them lay Chan Su Wan on the alter and casts a True Resurrection spell. Chan rises, completely healed from his death bed.

Back on the road the party are now heading west for Scornubel. They find that the Fields of the Dead turn out to be no more than a series of fields, where once in the past there was a great battle. Slightly disappointed they push onwards.

Reaching Scornubel, they head through the Reaching Wood and then onto Hluthwar.

After some investigation, the party decided that it was almost impossible to enter the tower.

On return to the town discovered that it was under a state of high alerts and they were not permitted to enter.

During the enduing argument, a horse came bolting for home. His rider shot dead in the back by arrows.

Raising the soldier they found out that he was from a outlying guard post. They had been surprised and mostly killed.

Travelling to the remote guard post, they reached the location by night fall. There were clear signs of battle. There seem to be two groups of combatants. One of humans, the other a lizard like race.

That night they had a fight with 2 Dinosaurs.

Returning the Dagger Falls, they spoke to the leader, one Randall Morn. He offered them the standard 5,000 GP for removing the magic from the tower and returning it to his rightful control.

Talking to the Head cleric in Lathander's Light, they learned that the secret to the tower was a combination of Zhent and Drow magic. But more the cleric could not say.

Travelled to the Border Forest. Spoke with a Tree Ent who after an all night discussion, decided they were trustable and advised them of where the Drow live.

Travelled into the forest. Had encounters with a Death Kiss Beholder and three Ogre Magi, of whom, one ran away.

Found a path, followed it, saw some Drow in the distance, but managed not to catch up with them. In the centre of the forest, but have travelled to the Eastern Edge.

Travelled for 4 days.

Travelled for 1 day back into the forest.

Met up with 4 Drow on a scouting mission from the tribe they were seeking.

Spent 3 days with the Drow on their mission, before returning to the village. Nearing the village met and killed two Frog Giants. This earned the respect of the Drow.

Spent the night in Gwynovan's tavern in the Drow village. Next day had lunch with the Baron. Were given permission to search the tower as it is the same as the one they are attempting to enter.

Found a secret door in the basement. In here they found a library, written in Drow and a plush studio. Learned that there are some 16 towers in total. Learned of a massively destructive spell that has the destructive affects of the tower they are attempting to enter.

On the roof of the tower they found a scrying device used for communicating between the towers. Also found the the floor of the main entrance to this tower has been inscribed with the pattern that is used in the destructive spell. There is a disk in another tower that has the same symbol.

9 July 2002

Spent 4 days excavating the lounge room. Discovered the temporary wooden teleportation disk.

Obtained a guide, Addrigwyn. He took them two days north to the next tower. Here they found a military outpost. No secret doors or strange glyphs. Caerill is the captain of the guard.

Travelled for two days south bwck to the first tower. Made a map of the towers form the drow library.

Travelled two days south t the next tower. Found tha the tower had been demolised and all the stone carted away. After a day digging, found the burried communication deivce. Sent Addrigwyn back to inform the drow of the find.

Travelled for two days to the next tower. It was a ruin.

Spent three days travelling to the last tower. However, en route attaked by two Bodaks. Calim and Chao Lin die. Retreat to Dagger Falles (1 day travel.)

Travelled to dagger falls, buried the slain and added two new characters to the party.

1 day at Morks tower. They were able to stop the magic by doing 2 simulataneous dispel magic spells. However, the tower was destroyed.

Spent 5 days removing ythe rubble so they could get at the basement.

Travelled by air back to the Drow tower.

Earned 3000 gp total, for breaking the magic on the tower.

Returned to Red Devil Island.
